We are delighted to announce that our first Open Mic night will also play host to the extremely talented duo of Ross Milligan and Graham High. Ross is primarily a jazz musician – a guitarist – but whose repertoir spans a wide range of genres. Ross has Played, toured and recorded with Artists as diverse as Trip Hop Artist Tricky, Horse, Pee Wee Ellis, Barbara Morrison, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Emily Smith, The Pasadena Roof Orchestra, Jeb Loy Nichols, Sir George Martin, Tony Monaco, The London Bach Choir, The RSNO, The Scottish Guitar Quartet and the National Youth jazz Orchestra as well as many west end and touring shows.
On Friday 27th May he will team up with talented guitarist (and illustrator) Graham High from Pencaitland to play an energetic mix of upbeat, Hot Club swing in the style of Django Reinhardt along with a selection of jazz and latin standards.
It’s great to have the chance to show that St Boswells Live! is a place where all types of music can be enjoyed.
After a long search for a suitable local act to provide support for Kieran Halpin on our opening night, April 22nd 2011, we have managed to come up trumps with a group comprising a 10 year old fiddle prodigy and two old guys called Graham (their words!)
Eryn Rae hails from just outside Jedburgh and has been described variously as “an amazing fiddler…can hold her own with anyone” and who “astounded all with her outrageous talent for such a young age. What she’ll be like when she’s older truly boggles the mind.”
Graham Dolan has played guitar with just about everyone in the Borders in his long music career including legendary rock band Experience! and the Edinburgh Shetland Fiddlers.
Graham Blanche is a bass player who is a regular pub session musician around the Borders, and who will be bringing his double bass all the way from Paxton (well, it’s a tricky road).
More details of the evening, plus ticket prices and availability soon.
We have great pleasure in announcing that the wonderful singer-songwriter, Kieran Halpin will be headlining the opening night of St Boswells Live!
Having heard great things about Kieran not least from people who have seen him perform, we are delighted that he has agreed to be our first headliner of our first ever show. The show will take place on Friday April 22, 2011, at 8pm.
More details about support and the other treats we have planned will follow.
